The Struggle Within

I’m 44, and most days, I feel old, tired, like I’m stuck somewhere between holding it all together and wondering what the hell the point of it even is anymore. Music has always been part of my life, and over time, it changed as I changed. Once, it was pure fire, anger, adrenaline. Metallica blasting in my ears while I stood with my school garage band, convinced we were untouchable. That sound made me feel infinite. Then life hit, responsibilities, family, work, the heavy weight of being the guy people count on. The fire dimmed. My playlists shifted to Pink Floyd. Their sound wasn’t anger, it was thought. It matched the questions in my head. Heavy, slow, searching. Staring at the sky, wondering if there was any meaning at all, it fit. But lately, without even meaning to, I’ve gone back to Metallica. And I keep asking myself, why? At this age, when I should be craving peace, why am I reaching for chaos again?

Because music isn’t just sound. It’s a mirror.

When I crank up Metallica now, I don’t just hear riffs, I hear ghosts. I hear the 14-year-old me still screaming, refusing to be buried under years of fatigue and responsibility. I hear the garage band that thought the world was theirs. I hear freedom in every distorted note. Pink Floyd feels like lying on your back staring at the stars, trying to figure out what it all means. Metallica feels like grabbing the wheel before you crash and screaming into the storm. One makes me think. The other makes me move. And I realize I need both. But here’s the thing, Metallica doesn’t sound the same at 44 as it did at 14. Back then, it was rebellion for rebellion’s sake. Now it’s therapy. Every riff pulls out the things I don’t say, the burnout, the depression, the frustration, the exhaustion of being the guy who always has to have the answers. It’s not noise anymore. It’s medicine.

This isn’t only nostalgia. This is survival.

Because deep down, my soul refuses to just grow quiet and fade into routine. Metallica wakes up the fighter in me, the one who still wants to kick down walls, scream at the sky, and live. And maybe that’s the meaning I’ve been searching for. Not to choose calm over chaos. Not to bury one version of me for the other. Maybe that’s what 44 really is. Not settling into one self, but to carry them both, the kid with the guitar, and the man with the scars.

Bicchinno Abeg

Release

I see the world
Feel the chill
Which way to go
Windowsill
I see the words
On a rocking horse of time
I see the birds in the rain

Oh dear dad
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll ride the wave
Where it takes me
I'll hold the pain
Release me

Oh dear dad
Can you see me now
I am myself
Like you somehow
I'll wait up in the dark
For you to speak to me
I'll open up
Release me
Release me
Release me
Release me

Happy New Year!!!

Holocene by Bon Iver

"Someway, baby, it's part of me, apart from me"
You're laying waste to Halloween
You fucked it, friend, it's on its head, it struck the street
You're in Milwaukee, off your feet

And at once I knew I was not magnificent
Strayed above the highway aisle
(Jagged vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles

3rd and Lake, it burnt away, the hallway
Was where we learned to celebrate
Automatic bought the years you'd talk for me
That night you played me 'Lip Parade'
Not the needle, nor the thread, the lost decree
Saying nothing, that's enough for me

And at once I knew I was not magnificent
Hulled far from the highway aisle
(Jagged vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles

Christmas night, it clutched the light, the hallow bright
Above my brother, I and tangled spines
We smoked the screen to make it what it was to be
Now to know it in my memory

And at once I knew I was not magnificent
High above the highway aisle
(Jagged vacance, thick with ice)
I could see for miles, miles, miles.....

George Barnett

Another day was ending and I was doing my usual stuff, checking mails, browsing news and gathering torrents, when I came across this message on Pirate Bay's homepage by an english musician named George Barnett.

A message from George Barnett, an english musician.

The message was quite interesting. Downloaded the album, liked it, reminds me of Beatles. Shared it with my colleagues and friends, they liked it too. Download and check it out yourself.

A Nice Song

Breakeven by The Script

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break even

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man that's gonna put her first
While I'm wide awake she's no trouble sleeping
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven... even... no

What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you,
And what am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're ok
I'm falling to pieces, yeah,
I'm falling to pieces

They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words gonna stop the bleeding
'Cause she's moved on while I'm still grieving
And when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven even... no

What am I gonna to do when the best part of me was always you,
And what am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're ok
I'm falling to pieces, yeah,
I'm falling to pieces, yeah,
I'm falling to pieces
One still in love while the other one's leaving
I'm falling to pieces
('Cause when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven)

Oh you got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
You took your suitcase, I took the blame.
Now I'm try'na make sense of what little remains ooh
'Cause you left me with no love and no love to my name.

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing
Just prayed to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks no it don't break
No it don't break
No it don't break even no

What am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you and
What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're ok
(Oh glad your okay now)
I'm falling to pieces yeah
(Oh I'm glad your okay)
I'm falling to pieces yeah
(One still in love while the other ones leaving)
I'm falling to pieces
('Cause when a heart breaks no it don't breakeven)

Oh it don't break even no
Oh it don't break even no
Oh it don't break even no

David Gray - Sail Away

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Crazy skies all wild above me now
Winter howling at my face
And everything I held so dear
Disappeared without a trace
Oh all the times I've tasted love
Never knew quite what I had
Little Darling if you hear me now
Never needed you so bad
Spinning round inside my head

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

I've been talking drunken gibberish
Falling in and out of bars
Trying to get some explanation here
For the way some people are
How did it ever come so far

Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now
Sail away with me honey
I put my heart in your hands
Sail away with me honey now, now, now
Sail away with me
What will be will be
I wanna hold you now

Maggot Brain - Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic)

According to legend, George Clinton, under the influence of LSD, told Eddie Hazel during the recording session to imagine he had been told his mother was dead. The result was the 10-minute guitar solo for which Hazel is most fondly remembered by many music critics and fans.

This guitar solo will blow your mind and give you goose bumps and if it doesn't then seriously there is something wrong with you. This is one of the best solo I every heard. The last time I heard it was back in school and forgot all about it until recently when I was watching "House". So enjoy!!!

Eddie Vedder - Society (Into the Wild)

Oh, it's a mystery to me
We have a greed with which we have agreed
And you think you have to want more than you need
Until you have it all you won't be free

Society, you're a crazy breed
Hope you're not lonely without me...

When you want more than you have
You think you need...
And when you think more than you want
Your thoughts begin to bleed
I think I need to find a bigger place
Because when you have more than you think
You need more space

Society, you're a crazy breed
Hope you're not lonely without me...
Society, crazy indeed
Hope you're not lonely without me...

There's those thinking, more-or-less, less is more
But if less is more, how you keeping score?
Means for every point you make, your level drops
Kinda like you're starting from the top
You can't do that...

Society, you're a crazy breed
Hope you're not lonely without me...
Society, crazy indeed
Hope you're not lonely without me...

Society, have mercy on me
Hope you're not angry if I disagree...
Society, crazy indeed
Hope you're not lonely without me...

Lucky Ali – Tu Kaun Hai

Kahan se tu aati hai: Where do you come from?
Kahan ko tu jaati hai: Where do you go?
Sapnon ko sajati hai: While adorning dreams,
Apnon ko ley jaati hai: While taking along closed ones.
Baaghon mein jab behti hai: When you flow through the gardens,
Kaanon mein kuch kehti hai: You whisper something in the ears,
Aati hai nazar nahin: You stay invisible
Saanson mein par rehti hai: But I feel you with my every breath
Hawaa hai pawan hai: Are you air, or the breeze
Vayu hai, purvaaee hai: Or the gusts, or the easterly winds?
Jeevan hai, jaan hai, ya parchaayee hai: Are you existence, life, or just a shadow?
Lene aayi hai ya kuch mere liye laayi hai: Are you seeking something, or do you have something for me?
Poochoonga mein kya tujhse: May I ask you
Kahan se tu aayi hai: Where you come from?
Tu kaun hai, tu kaun hai: Who are you? who are you?
Tu jab chalti chalti badal: So you move, so do the clouds
Jhuk jati toh girtey patte: And when you stop, the leaves ruffle down
Tu kehti to diye jalte: When you speak, lamps lit up,
Phoolon ke dil dil se milte: And hearts of flowers meet with hearts
Sagar ki lahron mein lehraati hai tu kal kal: You sway with the waves of the sea
Pattiyon ke paayalon mein lati khan khan: And bring the timbre to bristling leaves
Khat Khat koi nahin aisa ek jhonka hai: Those gusts which knock as if there was somebody
Kuch hai, such hai, ya tu ek dhoka hai: Something, truth, or you just a bluff
Tu kaun hai, tu kaun hai: Who are you? who are you?
Kahan se tu aati hai: Where do you come from?
Kahan ko tu jaati hai: Where do you go?
Sapnon ko sajati hai: While adorning dreams,
Apnon ko ley jaati hai: While taking along closed ones.
Baaghon mein jab behti hai: When you flow through the gardens,
Kaanon mein kuch kehti hai: You whisper something in the ears,
Aati hai nazar nahin: You stay invisible
Saanson mein par rehti hai: But I feel you with my every breath
Tu kaun hai, tu kaun hai: Who are you? who are you?

Marshall Bruce Mathers III

Started listening to Eminem after like 6 years. Still loving it, the old albums.

"They say music can alter moods and talk to you...
Well can it load a gun up for you , and cock it too...
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude...
Just tell the judge it was my fault and i'll get sued..."

Coldplay - Scientist (Live)

One of the best live performance by one of the best band.

Come up to meet you, To tell you I’m sorry, You don’t know how lovely you are

I had to find you, To tell you I need you, To tell you I set you apart

So tell me your secrets, And ask me your questions, Aww let’s go back to the start

Runnin’ in circles, [sounds like] Comin’ our tails, Heads on the science apart

Nobody said it was easy
Aww It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
Aww take me back to the start

I was just guessin’, At numbers and figures, Pullin’ the puzzles apart

Questions of science, Science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me, Come back to haunt me, Oh when I rush to the start

Runnin’ in circles, [sounds like] Chasin’ our tails, Comin’ back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Aww It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
Aww take me back to the start

Ahhooooooooooooooooo
Ahhooooooooooooooooo
Ahhooooooooooooooooo
Ahhooooooooooooooooo

Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know your alive

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

The Fray - You Found Me

I found god
On the corner of first and Amistad
Where the west was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I Said where you been, he said ask anything
Where were you?
When everything was falling apart
All my days were spent by the telephone
It never rang
And all I needed was a call
That never came
To the corner of first and Amistad

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

In the end everyone ends up alone
Losing her, the only one who’s ever known
Who I am, who I’m not, who I want to be
No way to know how long she will be next to me

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait?
Where were you, where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

Early morning, City breaks
I’ve been calling for years and years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
You never send me no letters
You got some kind of nerve, taking all I want

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Where were you where were you

Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait?
Where were you, where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me

Why’d you have to wait?
To find me, to find me...

All Hail the King 1958-2009

I haven't wrote anything about "The King", didn't know what to write. Everyone already know what he did, achieved and gave. So what I'll do is share what I remember of him.

There are few things in life that you always remember. One of those thing was my cousins stereo system, I would have done anything to have it then, it was mind blowing. He was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and that's how I started listening to "The King". I'm also pretty sure that the first song I ever heard coming out of nursery rhymes was "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough".

You know how your parents talk about the great musician of their era (John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Miles Davis) and how music will never be the same without them. Well Michael was ours and its a pleasure to be a part of his era.

Looking out
Across the night-time
The city winks a sleepless eye
Hear her voice
Shake my window
Sweet seducing sighs

If they say -
Why, why, tell em that is human nature

Rest In Peace My King

Local Hero

Being a Knopfler fan I heard almost all his works. One of his finest I should say is the soundtrack he made for this 1983 Scottish film "Local Hero". You can listen to the music over and over again. So I looked it up in IMDb and found the story to be rather intriguing. After looking for the movie for over a month I finally found it, downloaded it and saw it last night and I’m glad I did.

American oil giant "Knox" sets out to acquire this small beautiful fishing town in Scotland, where they want to set up their new oil refinery. "Mac" MacIntyre their hot-shot executive is sent over to negotiate with the towns people, who love his Porsche and his 85K salary. Little does he know that instead of buying them off, he will start cherishing them, their town, their way of life......

If you like classic movies this is a must see. The story is bound to touch your heart and off course the amazing music that adds another dimension to the story.

The Dreadlock Rasta.....

Its been a lifetime since I listed to Bob Marley. While going through my old song collection I found complete discography of this Dreadlock Rasta and my oh my it feels like this is what I was looking for. The strong lyrics, the beautiful reggae, the passion of his voice just amazing. I have no words to explain, you have to listen to him to understand what I want to say.

A Feast Of Friends

Wow, I'm sick of doubt
Live in the light of certain
South
Cruel bindings
The servants have the power
Dog-men and their mean women
Pulling poor blankets over
Our sailors

I'm sick of dour faces
Staring at me from the TV Tower

I want roses in
My garden bower; dig?
Royal babies, rubies
Must now replace aborted
Strangers in the mud
These mutants, blood-meal
For the plant that's plowed

They are waiting to take us into
The severed garden
Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful
Comes death on a stranger hour
Unannounced, unplanned for
Like a scaring over-friendly guest you've
Brought to bed

Death makes angels of us all
And gives us wings
Where we had shoulders
Smooth as raven's claws

No more money, no more fancy dress
This other Kingdom seems by far the best
Until its other jaw reveals incest
And loose obedience to a vegetable law

I will not go
Prefer a Feast of Friends
To the Giant family.
