Photoshop CS5 & Mac OS 10.6 Text Tool Crash Fix

Issue

Photoshop CS5 crashes when you select or use the text tool, work in an image, or save an image.

Solution

Reset Photoshop's Preferences and turn off the Font Preview Preferences:
  1. Quit Photoshop.
  2. Restart Photoshop, while holding down the Command+Option+Shift keys). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
  3. Choose Photoshop > Preferences > Type.
  4. Deselect Font Preview Size and click OK.
  5. Restart Photoshop.

Additional information

These issues occur when at least one of your South Asian language fonts doesn't have an English name. Fonts that do not contain English glyphs can cause problems, such as crashes, in Photoshop. Turning off the font preview in Photoshop prevents those crashes.
